Curso de verano sobre la cultura india y Espiritualidad - Día 2

El Instituto Sri Sathya Sai de Educación Superior organizó un Curso de Verano sobre el tema de la cultura india y la espiritualidad del 10 junio-12 junio del 2011 en Prashanti Nilayam. Los estudiantes y el personal de todos los campus del Instituto participaron en este programa.

DIA 2 (11 de junio 2011):

*El primer orador fue, el Prof. G. Venkataraman, eminente científico, ex vicerrector de la Universidad de Sai, y el Director de Radio Sai , habló sobre el tema "Importancia de la Educación y Filosofía SAI en el Mundo Contemporáneo" ..

El combino con sensibilidad sus recuerdos de Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, con sus propias experiencias del mundo secular, citando de manera convincente Discursos de Sai, que dilucidan sobre el tema.
Creer, como hacen algunos, que no hay conexión entre la espiritualidad y la sociedad es un gran error. Antes de cumplir con nuestra obligación con todo el mundo a nuestro alrededor, debemos darnos cuenta de la universalidad de lo divino.

Con el fin de llevar a cabo nuestros deberes, debemos desarrollar dos cualidades en nosotros mismos: la sensibilidad y la integridad.

La sensibilidad es la compasión, y que serán capaces de llevar a cabo esta tarea cuando tengamos en cuenta la posibilidad de que los ricos de hoy pueden llegara a ser los pobres del mañana . Y la sensibilidad que se necesita en nuestro trato con el mundo en todos los niveles.

La integridad es la honestidad absoluta, sino que también se traduce en la constancia. Se practica en la vida cotidiana, en nuestra trato y relación uno-a-uno o uno-a-muchos . Por ejemplo, en los negocios, Sai nos exhortó a tener en cuenta que "El cliente es Dios". El mal que hacemos volverá ha nosotros.

Debemos buscar a Dios dentro, y ver el mismo Dios en todo el mundo que nos rodea. Entonces no podemos herir a los demás. La espiritualidad y nuestras obligaciones sociales van de la mano. Carácter e integridad son sinónimos. El desarrollo de carácter individual conduce a mejorar el carácter nacional.

*El segundo orador fue el profesor Viswanath Pandit, eminente economista y ex vicerrector del Instituto Sri Sathya Sai de Educación Superior. Habló sobre "El papel de los Valores y la Ética en la Educación".

Reiteró el objetivo de Sai en el establecimiento de la Universidad y que el ISSSES debe producir modelos a seguir. Él definió la educación, como el proceso que lleva a cabo la divinidad inherente en cada uno de nosotros. Por lo tanto, la educación es Educare.

Hoy, sin embargo, en todas partes del mundo , la educación se ha convertido en un negocio, y la educación se ha convertido en sinónimo del desarrollo de las habilidades simples. La virtud y la sabiduría se sustituyen por la locura y cosas peores.
Citando la irónica receta de Ranganathananda Swami del Comando Undécimo para el hombre moderno-'Despues de violar los Diez Mandamientos, asegúrese de escapar de las manos de la ley ".

El erudito menciono los males del mundo moderno y la insuficiencia de su sistema educativo.
La reciente recesión en Occidente, es una consecuencia directa, así como el nexo entre el gobierno, el mundo empresarial y el consumismo desenfrenado, se citan en las estadísticas del profesor Pandit, para mostrar cómo todo esto ha dado lugar a desigualdades sin precedentes entre las clases altas y las clases más pobres . Los ricos se han vuelto más ricos, los pobres más pobres.

La única salida es la receta de Sai: la práctica del 'Límite a los deseos. " Citando el Yajurveda, el profesor Pandit hizo hincapié en la necesidad urgente de ampliar el concepto de ética del Dharma, y tomar el nivel de Sathya-Dios.
Mencionó que la llamada racionalidad y la razón sólo han resultado en el egoísmo, y que la felicidad no está relacionada con el éxito económico.
Hay una necesidad de desarrollar un "binocular" secular, como espiritual ,de conciencia de la visión.
El Triángulo SAI de Oro, Dios, Hombre y Sociedad, debe ser nuestra meta, la meta de la educación. El desarrollo de habilidades hacia el desarrollo de la espiritualidad.

*El discurso fue seguido por la segunda parte del video, "Vivir con Dios es la verdadera educación".

*El tercer orador de la mañana del programa fue K. Chakravarti Lanka, el primer Secretario de la Universidad y secretario del Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, dio una charla erudita sobre "Innovación en la mente, la pasión en el vientre y la compasión en el corazón".

Citando un amplio abanico de poetas y escritores, el orador se centró en la necesidad de la compasión, y la formación de las mentes de los estudiantes. Como alguien Sai, siguiendo de cerca todos los programas y especialmente los progresos de la Universidad de Sai, Sri Chakravarti expresó su satisfacción, por que los estudiantes Sai se encuentran entre el 1% destacado del país, lo que demuestra, que la calidad de nuestra educacion, es mejor que la media nacional.

Sin embargo, existe la necesidad de mejorar, y cómo lo hacemos? El orador ha mencionado una receta : aprender a aprender.
En otras palabras, los maestros del ISSSES deben enseñar a sus estudiantes sobre cómo aprender.
El aprendizaje en clase debe inspirar a los estudiantes a leer los clásicos de sus respectivos campos.
Los extractos de libros de texto, se entenderán mejor en el contexto, sólo cuando todo el texto original sea estudiado, enfatizó.
Incluso para el descanso, en lugar de la ficción, los estudiantes deben recurrir a la poesía, ya que no sólo es relajante, también eleva.

Estudiantes Sai, Sri Chakravarti subrayó, deben practicar los ideales de Swami: sobre todo compartir y cuidar: compartir con los demás lo que tenemos y cuidado de los demás con un sentido de la igualdad y la compasión.
Así, un estudiante de Sai debe fomentar su yo superior. Por encima de todo el valor a cultivar y practicar la compasión, y la misericordia. Dejen que el lado noble y sublime de nuestra personalidad desempeñe su papel.
Un corazón sensible es lo que importa. Al mismo tiempo, los estudiantes Sai y maestros deben tener como objetivo empujar las fronteras del conocimiento.

*Sri V. Srinivasan, la Presidente de la Org. Sri Sathya Sai Seva para toda la India, fue el orador cuarto de la mañana y habló sobre "Directrices para el Instituto".

Recordó la declaración definitiva de Bhagavan: 'Yo soy Dios, también tu eres Dios, la diferencia es que yo lo sé y tu no. "

Luego pasó a aludir a los festivales que se celebran en Prashanti Nilayam, al que asistieron miles de devotos de todo el mundo, todos traídos por Swami, actuando como un imán Divino.

-Sri Srinivasan pasó a aclarar las directrices establecidas por Swami para la Universidad:

Recordó una reunión con Swami: cuando Swami les preguntó cuál es el significado de Swaraj , todos dijeron "total libertad". Entonces, Swami comentó que nadie en el universo ha logrado completa Swaraj, sólo Él, Dios, porque sólo él tiene y goza de libre albedrío.

Otra guía hace hincapié en que nuestra mente debe perseguir no sólo información, sino la sabiduría. Aquí se alude a un episodio de la vida de Ramakrishna: cuando el Paramhamsa dijo que para alcanzar a Dios debemos concentramos en él.
Agregó que la verdadera libertad es la autorregulación. Este debería ser el objetivo de cada estudiante Sai. Concluyó citando de Swami, "yo te doy lo que quieras, con la esperanza de que algún día ustedes me pidan lo que he venido a dar."

*Antes de la última intervención se reprodujo un interesante episodio basado en la vida y el mensaje de Bhagavan Baba, donde los equipos de todas las escuelas participaron con entusiasmo.
"El maestro prueba", por Sri Shashank Shah, un compañero post doctorado en Administración, admirablemente nos llevo por toda la vida y la misión del Avatar de la Era, frente a la audiencia a través de preguntas perspicaces y presentaciones de diapositivas de fotografías raras, mostrando momentos de su vida.
Incluso los ancianos participaron con entusiasmo en el evento, respondiendo a las preguntas de los alumnos participantes.
Oportunamente, la prueba terminó con un empate de los tres equipos, con una puntuación exacta de 80 puntos.

*Después de la pausa del almuerzo, se reunieron por separado para la discusión sobre los discursos seleccionados por Bhagavan Baba, en la cultura india y la espiritualidad, con los profesores actuando como facilitadores. Estas discusiones, empujaron a los estudiantes a mirar dentro de los aspectos más sutiles de la vida espiritual, en armonía con el rico patrimonio indígena. Seleccionando representantes de los grupos que expusieron el aprendizaje.

Los estudiantes se reunieron en el Salón Sai Kulwant a las 16:30 hs. Después del canto Vedico , hubo una presentación resumida de los estudiantes, después de lo cual, hubo un programa de música por los estudiantes del campus de la Universidad Ananatpur.

Después de la cena, los tres campus se reunieron por separado y continuaron el tan ansiado Satsanga, hablando de las experiencias individuales con Bhagavan.

Summer Course on Indian Culture and Spirituality - Day 2

The Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning organised a Summer Course on the theme of Indian Culture and Spirituality from the 10th June to 12th June 2011 at Prasanthi Nilayam. Students and staff from all the Campuses of the Institute participated in this programme.

DAY 2 (11th June 2011):

The first speaker, Prof. G. Venkataraman, eminent scientist, and former Vice Chancellor of Sai University, and the Director of Radio Sai spoke on the topic, "Relevance of Sai Education Philosophy in Contemporary World"..

Combining effortlessly and sensitively his reminiscences of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba with his own experiences of the secular world, and citing cogently from Sai Discourses, he elucidated on the topic. To believe, as some do, that there is no connection between spirituality and society is a big mistake. Before we discharge our duty to the world around us we must realize the universality of the Divine.

In order to carry out our duties, we must develop two qualities in ourselves: sensitivity and Integrity. Sensitivity is compassion; and we will be able to carry out this task when we keep in mind the possibility that today’s rich can become tomorrow’s poor. And sensitivity is needed in our dealing with the world at every level.

Integrity is absolute honesty; it also translates into steadfastness. It is practised in daily life in our one-to-one dealings or one-to-many dealings. For example, in business, Sai has exhorted us to keep in mind that ‘Customer is God.’ The evil we do will rebound on us.

We must look for God within—see the same God in everyone around you. Then we can never hurt others. Spirituality and our social obligations go together. Character and integrity are synonymous. Development of individual character leads to burgeoning of national character.

The second speaker was Prof. Viswanath Pandit, eminent economist, and former Vice Chancellor of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. He spoke on ‘Role of Values and Ethics in Education.’

He reiterated Sai’s objective in establishing the University that SSSIHL must produce role models. He defined Education as the process which brings out the inherent divinity in each of us. Thus, Education is Educare.

Today, however, everywhere in the world outside, education has become a business; and education has become synonymous with the development of mere skills. Virtue and wisdom are replaced by folly and worse. Quoting from Swami Ranganathananda’s wry prescription of the Eleventh Command for the modern man—‘after violating the Ten Commandments, make sure you escape from the hands of law’.

The learned scholar traced the ills of the modern world to the failure of its education system. The recent recession in the West is a direct consequence; as well as the nexus between the government and the corporate world and rampant consumerism; Prof. Pandit quoted statistics to show how all this has resulted in unprecedented inequalities among the upper classes and the poorer classes. The rich have become richer, the poor poorer.

The only way out is Sai’s prescription: practise ‘Ceiling on Desires.’ Quoting from the Yajurveda, Prof. Pandit stressed on the urgent need expand the concept of Ethics to Dharma; and take Dharma to the level of Sathya—God. He mentioned that the so-called Rationality and Reason have only resulted in selfishness and happiness is not related to economic success. There is a need to develop a ‘binocular’ vision—secular as well as spiritual awareness. Sai’s Golden Triangle of God, Man and Society must be our goal, the goal of education. Skill formation must go with development of spirituality.

The speech was followed by the second part of the video, ‘Living with God is True Education’.

The third speaker of the morning’s programme Sri K. Chakravarti, the first Registrar of the University and for the secretary of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, delivered an erudite talk on ‘Innovation in the Head, Passion in the Belly and Compassion in the Heart ’:

Quoting from a wide range of poets and writers, the learned speaker focused on the need for compassion; and the training of the minds of students. As someone closely following all Sai’s programmes and especially the progress of the Sai University, Sri Chakravarti expressed satisfaction that Sai students are among the top 1% of the country. Even the quality our research is better than the national average.

However, there is need to improve, and how do we do it? The learned speaker has a complete prescription: learn to learn. In other words, the teachers of SSSIHL must teach their students on how to learn. Classroom learning should inspire students to read the classics from their respective fields. The extracts in textbooks will be understood more in context only when the entire original text is studied, he emphasised. Even for relaxation, instead of fiction, students should resort to poetry since it is not only relaxing but also elevating.

Sai students, Sri Chakravarti emphasized, must practise Swami’s ideals: especially sharing and caring: sharing with others what we have and caring for others with a sense of equality and compassion. Thus a Sai student must foster his or her higher self. Above all the value to nurture and practise is compassion, mercy. Let the noble and sublime side of our personality play its role. A responsive heart is what matters. At the same time Sai students and teachers must aim at pushing the frontiers of knowledge.

Sri V. Srinivasan, the All India President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization, was the fourth speaker of the morning and he spoke on "Guidelines for the Institute". He recalled Bhagavan’s definitive statement: ‘I am God, you are also God, and the difference is that I know it and you don’t.’ He went on to allude to the various festivals celebrated in Prasanthi Nilayam, attended by thousands of devotees from all over the world, all brought here by Swami’s love acting as a Divine Magnet.

Sri Srinivasan went on to elucidate the guidelines laid by Swami for the University :

The first is, “Service to Society, where service to society is service to God”.

The second is, “Cultivate love in your heart because only when you cultivate love in your heart you begin your journey Godwards”.

The third is, “Truth is 3-H—harmony between head, heart and hands: thought, word and deed”.

He recalled a meeting with Swami: when Swami asked them what the meaning of Swaraj is; they all said ‘complete freedom’. Then Swami commented that no one in the universe has attained complete Swaraj only He, God, has because he alone enjoys Free Will.

Another guideline emphasizes that our mind should pursue not just information, but wisdom. Here he alludes to an episode from Ramakrishna’s life: when the Paramhamsa said that in order to attain God you should pine for him. He added that, true freedom is self-regulation. This ought to be the goal of every Sai student. He concluded by quoting Swami, “I give you what you want, in the hope that one day you will ask me what I have come to give you.’

Before the last speech there was an interesting Quiz based on the life and message of Bhagavan Baba, where teams from all the campuses participated enthusiastically. The quiz master, Sri Shashank Shah, a post doctoral fellow in Management, admirably brought the entire life and mission of the Avatar of the Age in front of the audience through insightful questions and slideshows of rare photographs bringing the moments to life. Even elders enthusiastically participated in the event answering questions passed by the participating students. Fittingly, the quiz ended in a tie with all three teams scoring exactly 80 points.

After the lunch break, the campuses met separately for further discussion on the selected discourses by Bhagavan Baba on Indian Culture and Spirituality, with the teachers acting as facilitators. These discussions prodded the students to introspect on the finer aspects of a spiritual life in harmony with the rich Indian heritage. Select Representatives from the groups presented the learnings.

Students assembled in the Sai Kulwant Hall by 04:30 pm. After Vedam Chanting, there was a summary presentation by students after which, there was a music programme by the students of Ananatpur campus of the University.

After Dinner, the three campuses met seperately and continued the much sought after Satsanga talking about individual experiences with Bhagawan.
